Maritzburg United have confirmed the departures of four players following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign.
Over the weekend, the Team of Choice announced that Jethren Barr, Daniel Morgan and Kwanda Mngonyama have all left the club after the quartet’s respective contracts in Pietermaritzburg expired.
Serbian defender Dušan Stević, who joined on an 18-month deal from Serbian Super Liga side FK Napredak Kruševac in February, has also been released.
“We would like to extend our sincere well wishes to Kwanda, Daniel, Jethren and Dušan for their future endeavours,” club chairman Farook Kadodia said in an official statement.
“Jethren’s contract had come to an end and we decided to release him. With Daniel and Kwanda, we elected not to take up options to extend their stays. We would like to thank the four for their hard work and commitment in the club’s cause, which has been much appreciated and valued.”
A number of other players are expected to depart the Harry Gwala Stadium ahead of next season and United confirmed that negotiations were ongoing in respect of potential new signings to replace the outgoing contingent.
