Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane talked about his interest in Brighton’s Percy Tau and the importance of winning the league with the Red Devils.
It took Mosimane less than two months to make his mark in Egypt, having won the Champions League after beating arch-rivals Zamalek in the final.
Talking about his first days at the job, the South African coach said that he knew the pressure that came with his new role.
“I was under a lot of pressure when we arrived. But we won, we had to do what was needed and we got the title,” Mosimane told Ukhozi FM.
The 56-year-old also talked about the difficulty of competing in the ‘prestigious’ Egyptian Premier League.
“It’s difficult because you are always expected to win the league, there is pressure. Winning the league would be the most prestigious trophy I’ve ever won,” he added.
“I’m just looking for a way to train in a way that works for me and the players. Winning the local league is more prestigious,” he continued.
Al Ahly have been heavily linked with Percy Tau from Brighton and Hove Albion and Mosimane opened up about their transfer targets this window.
There’s a possibility that we can sign Tau but it hasn’t happened yet,” he explained.
I said there is a player I like. The players we can’t have are the ones we want. Every club wants him,” he concluded.
Al Ahly are also reportedly close to signing one of the most in-demand players in Africa in Simba SC and Mozambique forward Luis Miquissone.
