Grammy Award winning artist Doja Cat will headline the 2026 edition of Move Afrika, bringing the pan African touring circuit to Pretoria this March in what marks her first major performance in South Africa.
The tour, led by international advocacy organisation Global Citizen, opens at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, on 17 March before arriving at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on 20 March. Now in its third year, Move Afrika aims to establish the continent’s first fully fledged pan African music touring circuit, designed to stimulate local creative industries and expand employment opportunities for young people.
Doja Cat, who has previously appeared at Global Citizen events around the world, described the upcoming shows as both personal and purposeful. “From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we are bringing energy, purpose and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria. This is not just a tour, it is a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last,” she said. “I am proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future and shows the world that Africa is already here.”
Global Citizen co founder and chief executive Hugh Evans said the artist’s involvement signals the continued expansion of the initiative across the continent. “She has delivered defining performances for Global Citizen from Paris to New York and beyond. Move Afrika places Africa’s creative excellence at the centre of the international touring circuit, strengthening local industries and driving long term growth powered by culture,” Evans said.
The tour is presented in partnership with pgLang, co founded by Kendrick Lamar, alongside Big Concerts, Cisco and the Rwanda Development Board. Ahead of the 2026 edition, organisers say further employment opportunities and youth training programmes will be rolled out, including expanded placements in event production and operations.
The project also carries a policy dimension. Global Citizen plans to campaign alongside local partners for stronger primary healthcare systems, improved sexual and reproductive health services and reduced financial barriers to public health across African countries hosting the tour.

Tickets for Move Afrika Pretoria will be released in phases:
- Mastercard cardholders can access a presale from 9am on 16 February until 8.59am on 18 February.
- World and World Elite Mastercard holders receive preferred access from 9am on 18 February.
- Big Concerts Fan Club members have access to a presale from 9am on 17 February until 8.59am on 18 February.
- General sales open at 9am on 18 February via Ticketmaster South Africa.
