Al Ahly’s new signing Percy Tau has been ruled-out of the Egyptian Super Cup game against Tala’a El-Gaish due to injury.
Tau completed his move to Al Ahly coming from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, becoming the club’s most valuable player at €3 million, according to Transfermarket.
Tau was diagnosed on his return from Bafana Bafana duty where he helped the side to a historic and important 1-0 win over Ghana in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
Bafana international was set to make his debut on 21 September when the Red Devils would compete for the 2019/2020 Egyptian Super Cup against Tala’a El-Gaish.
However, it appears that his debut will be delayed after reportedly sustaining a hamstring injury which will sideline for three weeks to a month.
Tau will undergo a recovery program in the coming weeks in order to be fit for the start of the new Egyptian Premier League which is scheduled to kick-off on 25 October.
Meanwhile as reported ealrier, Cavin Johnson has quit his job as assistant coach at Al Ahly and is back in South Africa.
Johnson joined as Ahly assistant coach when Pitso Mosimane was appointed head coach at the Cairo giants at the end of September 2020.
The former SuperSport United, Platinum Stars and AmaZulu head coach was part of the technical team that masterminded back-to-back Caf Champions League victories.
