Kaizer Chiefs have made a fairly average start to the new campaign as they have so far won one, lost one and drawn one of their three matches.
Chiefs host the Durban-based side, who recently bought the franchise of Bloemfontein Celtic, at FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi look to bounce back from their league loss to Mamelodi Sundowns this past Sunday and pick up the three points that are up for grabs.
“We’ve done our due diligence on them, and we’ll make sure that we pay them full respect, because it is basically a Celtics driven side, isn’t it?” he asked
“We can see similarities there. And whether or not they want to play with three or four at the back or five at the back, I cannot control. I think we’ve got to try and concentrate on ourselves, taking what we’ve done well, and increasing it. That’s a journey that you’re always on at this time of the year. You know, we had very little time to prepare, we’ve got the new boys in and we’re trying to integrate them and get results at the same time.
“It’s a journey and we’ve got to keep on on working at that to get a more consistent performance from our side,” Baxter added
Chiefs have had to put the disappointment of last Sunday’s defeat to champions Mamelodi Sndowns behind them after a game in which they missed several good chances.
“We came off a defeat against Sunday was that didn’t feel too good because we thought we were worth a little bit more.
“Training at the moment is very much about trying to extend those periods of very good play and be more consistent. And certainly take away these unforced errors that are costing us silly goals and finish the chances that we are creating.
“We’ve got to close the door at one end and make sure that we take advantage at the other. So we’ve been working quite hard in the week,” concluded Baxter.
In head-to-head stats, this will be the first competitive meeting of Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM.
