Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has acknowledged the huge pressure on his team, promising the fans that will not stop them from doing their best.
In the Egypt Cup round of 16, Al Ahly have crossed ENPPI’s hurdle as they won 1-0 to book their spot in the quarter-finals.
The win was not an easy one, as Mosimane’s men failed to score in the first 75 minutes of the game despite coming close on multiple occasions.
However, substitutions came for the rescue when Salah Mohsen scored the winning goal less than five minutes after leaving the bench.
After beating ENPPI, the Red Devils will be clashing with Pyramids in the quarter-finals of Egypt Cup.
Following the Reds victory, Pitso made a few comments speaking about the game and his team’s current condition.
“The main difference between this match and the Super Cup match is that today we could score,” Pitso said.
“Last game, we made a lot of chances but we couldn’t score, we played better but we couldn’t transform that into goals.”
The team is under immense pressure, the technical staff too, we are only humans, but we have to keep working well.
“We have new players and others who have returned from their loan spells, they are not used to our playstyle yet, that’s why they can’t play the full game.
Abdelkader and Miquissone will be great additions to the team, especially when they gain more confidence.
“The players don’t get enough rest, especially the international ones, look at Afsha and Sherif, this is not the performance we see from them, they are exhausted of course.
Taher and El-Shahat were also injured without any interference, that’s because of the pressure on the players.
“The national team will suffer a lot in the World Cup qualifiers if the players don’t get enough rest.
“The players will play the Arab Cup, return to play CAF Champions League, then Egyptian Premier League, and after that the World Cup, God help Al Ahly and Zamalek players, they will play all these games,” he concluded.
