Former Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo has been released on bail.
Phungwayo has been released on R5000 bail with a future court date yet to be determined.
He was arrested last week in connection with a number of criminal activities such as hijacking and being in possession of stolen property.
Two hijacked cars were found at the player’s residence by acquaintances known by Phungwayo who is claiming no knowledge of any criminal activities.
According to close friend Joe Seanego, the fact that Phungwayo’s charge has been moved from a stage 5 charge down to stage 1 is advantageous.
“Yes the boy is out, we are busy paying his R5000 bail as we speak,” Seanego told Kickoff.com.
“At the moment we are still in court, as they are still going to inform us on when he is expected to appear in court again.”
