Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela will miss Marumo Gallant’s next two matches, including Wednesday’s key relegation tussle against TS Galaxy, but says he is grateful he has not suffered any serious symptoms after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Malesela has to isolate until Monday, so is also out for the return leg of the African Confederation Cup third round tie against TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Polokwane on Sunday.
He tested positive ahead of the club’s trip to Lubumbashi for last weekend’s first leg and was forced to go into isolation at his home in Pretoria, missing the first leg which Gallants narrowly lost 1-0.
Malesela says he is feeling no ill effects. “I’m fine, it’s just a matter of staying at home and keeping safe,”he said on Wednesday.
But he will not be on the bench for the DStv Premiership clash at home to Galaxy, plus will miss the continental club competition tie.
“Sunday is my last day of isolation, so I’ll probably go up to Polokwane then to get ready for the next week’s work.”
Malesela has had two games in charge since arriving, helping Gallants to beat SuperSport United this first match in charge on 20 November and then drawing 0-0 at home with Maritzburg United four days later.
He said his first game back will be the league match at Sekhukhune United on Wednesday, 8 December.
