The South African Police Services (SAPS) has confirmed a search and seizure operation at the home of suspended crime unit officer sergeant Fannie Nkosi in Pretoria North.
The raid comes just weeks after Nkosi testified at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where he admitted to being involved in wrongdoing alongside high-ranking officials, including the suspended Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Shadrack Sibiya.
Fullview understands stated that the police began the raid shortly after 09:00, removing occupants from the premises, including Nkosi’s wife, as they conducted the raid.
According to the SAPS national spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, the operation is part of ongoing police investigations.
“The SAPS can confirm that we have successfully executed a search and seizure operation (J51) in Pretoria North today (Thursday),” Mathe said.
She urged the media not to publish images of the property or identify officers involved.
“To media houses on their way to the location that was leaked by unknown sources, please do not take pictures or publish the home of the police officer, nor show the faces of the officers executing the search warrant,” she added.
However, she declined to identify the officer linked to the property, citing the active nature of the probe.
The move follows the arrest of 12 high-ranking police officials and the summoning of police commissioner Fannie Masemola in relation to a multi-million tender awarded to alleged crime kingpin Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala.
