National Coloured Congress (NCC) MP Fadiel Adams claims a discredited Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) unit stormed a Mitchells Plain home searching for him without a warrant.
Adams has described the incident as unlawful and opened criminal charges, including intimidation, against the officers involved and a senior SAPS official.
In a statement on Saturday, 02 May 2026, the NCC claimed that 15 police officers entered the home in Westridge at about 4am.
According to the statement, the group did not present a search warrant or warrant of arrest and pointed firearms at occupants of the home.
“Clad in ski masks, they refused to identify themselves and parked their vehicle 100 meters away to prevent number plate identification.”
“Cases of unlawful entry, the assault of a minor and intimidation have been laid by the victim, an educator. Let us be clear, this was no search and seizure, as no evidence to this has been produced; this was the planned kidnapping of Fadiel Adams,” the NCC claimed.
Adams is one of the MPs who was fingered by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi for having access to classified information and handling it recklessly.
He accused Mkhwanazi of ignoring legal precedent and attempting to punish him for exposing alleged wrongdoing.
“I believe General Mkhwanazi is a constitutional delinquent,” Adams said. “The man wants me in jail for reporting a crime.”
The dispute centres on sensitive crime intelligence documents that Adams says were delivered anonymously to his parliamentary office in October 2024.
The controversy highlights deeper tensions around policing, intelligence oversight and political accountability in South Africa.
Adams has built a reputation as a combative MP willing to publicly challenge powerful figures within law enforcement. His critics, however, accuse him of using sensitive information to score political points.
