Mamelodi Sundowns secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Polokwane City at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane on Sunday afternoon.
Sundowns controlled possession, forcing Rise and Shine to defend deep and rely on counter-attacks.
On the half-hour mark, Sundowns drew the first blood with Iqraam Rayners’ goal, after he headed home a pinpoint cross from midfield workhorse Teboho Mokoena.
Sundowns went into the tunnel at the interval with a 1-0 lead.
The visitors made two changes coming into the second half with Raymond Daniels coming in for Sapholwethu Kelepu, while captain Puleng Marema came in for Sibusiso Tshabalala.
The home side doubled their lead with a sublime curling strike from Tashreeq Matthews in the 56th minute to move closer to walking away with three points.
The Brazilians put a final nail in the coffin with a goal from Nuno Santos, claiming a 3-0 victory against Polokwane City to move to 64 points in 27 games. They are leading second-placed Orlando Pirates with five points with a game in hand.
Sundowns have now gone 18 games unbeaten in the league since a 1-0 away loss to Lamontville Golden Arrows in September 2025.
