President Cyril Ramaphosa to deliver the eulogy at the Official Funeral of the late Deputy Minister in The Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Prof Hlengiwe Mkhize.
The funeral service will be followed by a burial at the Fourways Memorial Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Proceedings will be held in accordance with COVID-19 safety provisions.
Mkhize, who was a member of the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC), died on Thursday. She was 69 years old.
She served as Ambassador to the Netherlands, deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Economic Development, Telecommunications and Postal Services, Minister of Home Affairs and of Higher Education and Training before her appointment to The Presidency. Prof Mkhize also played a crucial role in conflict resolution during our transition to democracy.
Mkhize’s death was confirmed by her family in a media statement. The family said that Mkhize had been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017.
