Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader, Velenkosini Hlabisa has launched the party’s election manifesto in Durban, saying the party offers the greatest hope to South Africans to escape what he says is the ANC’s failure to govern, deliver jobs and provide people with security.
Hlabisa asked that voters listen to the party’s offerings and rally behind its 10-point plan, promising service delivery, human dignity, and self-reliance to realise collective dreams, hopes and aspirations of the country and its people.
The core message of the IFP manifesto includes having leaders of integrity who will provide electricity, water, housing and ensure food security, while creating security and prioritising the next generation through better early childhood development.
To cater to Covid-19 restrictions, the party opted for a hybrid manifesto launch.
The convention centre inside, looked finely decorated with IFP colours despite the gloomy weather over the Durban skyline.
Local South African music sensations Holly Rey, Thobekile Mkhwanazi and Natalie Rungan performed at the event, with an address by Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Hlabisa was seen on the ground during the voter registration weekend earlier this month, ramping up support in wards across the eThekwini district.
He said the party was working on winning back wards which had been run by the ANC.
