Veteran South African actor Themsie Times has died at the age of 70.
Times passed away on Thursday, although details surrounding her death remain unclear.
Publicity manager at 7de Laan Kayleen Bessit confirmed the legendary actress’s death and a statement would be issued on Friday.
She played Maria on 7de Laan for 13 years before leaving the show in 2016.
Times also featured in other big productions, including Beat the Drum and Cry the Beloved County.
When Times was 17 years old, she left her hometown in Ggeberha (Port Elizabeth) and moved to Johannesburg to pursue her dreams of acting.
Even though she came from an over-protective and grounded family, nothing stopped her from following her dreams of acting. But she said that her parents taught her how to show love and respect. The actress came from a family of seven children.
