The South African football fraternity is mourning the untimely passing of former Kaizer Chiefs and RC Strasbourg midfielder Michael Nkambule.

Nkambule was 37 at the time of his untimely death on Friday, 07 August, after being involved in an accident over a week ago from a football event in Polokwane.

He was alone at the time of the accident and had been receiving treatment in hospital, sadly he succumbed to injuries.

Lebo Ditlhake, the Chairman and Founder of Ditlhake Masters FC, confirmed the sad news to Idiski Times.

Born in Etwatwa, Daveyton, Nkambule was regarded as one of South Africa’s most exciting football talents during his teenage years.

His ability attracted attention from European giants Manchester United and Chelsea before he moved to France to join the youth academy of RC Strasbourg.

After returning to South Africa, the talented midfielder represented SuperSport United and Black Leopards.

He remained involved in the game through Ditlhake Masters FC, where he continued playing for the regional legends side.

The passing of Nkambule has left a void among those who knew him both on and off the pitch, with former teammates, friends and members of the football community expected to pay tribute to a player whose love for the game never faded after his professional career.
