The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has confirmed that the underworld kingpin Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala’s testimony has been moved to Monday and Tuesday.
Matlala was initially scheduled to testify on 1 September 2026 however that has now changed after his case was postponed.
He will testify under subpoena after initially appearing before the commission on 15 July 2026.
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels said Matlala would testify under subpoena at 09:30 on Monday, with his evidence continuing on Tuesday.
Fullview learnt that his appearance may be subject to specific conditions, including a reported limitation that he will not be questioned on matters relating to the Medicare24 contract.
In the earlier discussions linked to plea negotiations with National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on the Medicare24, Matlala initially sought to be exempted from appearing before the commission.
It is understood that he later agreed to testify, on the condition that questioning about the Medicare24 contract would be excluded from cross-examination.
Matlala faces various criminal charges and allegations of having corrupt relationships with certain police officers.
The commission was recently granted a second extension by President Cyril Ramaphosa, scrapping the 29 August 2026 deadline for submission of its final report.
The inquiry will now have until 2 October to conclude its public hearings of witness testimonies, while the final report will be submitted on 02 November 2026.
