Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed the signing of Thabang Matuludi who was part of the Bafana Bafana team that took part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico.
“Mamelodi Sundowns are excited to welcome Thabang Matuludi to the Masandawana family! Yellow Nation, let’s welcome him in the comments, “the club said in a statement.
Matuludi’s arrival widens right-back options for Sundowns. The Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso already has the likes of Khuliso Mudau, Thapelo Morena, Zuko Mdunyelwa and Deano van Rooyen, who was unveiled as a new Sundowns player early this week.
Cardoso emphasised that squad recruitment falls outside his scope, noting that Sundowns have a dedicated scouting team responsible for identifying suitable talent.
Matuludi, (27), has been absent from Polokwane City’s lineup this season since his return from international duty, is now set for a fresh start after a challenging period.
He played 72 games across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing two assists. He will, however, have to prove he has enough quality to be involved regularly.
