The “Golden Boys” of Padel, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, opened the European swing of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour in winning fashion after claiming the CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel P2 titles on Sunday.
More than 9,110 spectators watched the finals at Ahoy Rotterdam, with total attendance exceeding 42,600 across the week as the Dutch city hosted the tournament for a third time.
The top seeds completed a hat trick of titles in the Dutch city. They defeated Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz 6 3, 6 2 in just one hour and nine minutes to claim their 10th title of the season.
Their latest success extends their advantage over Chingalán in the FIP Race to 1,780 points and strengthens their position in the battle to finish the season as world No. 1s for a fourth consecutive year.
Coello praised their opponents after another commanding display. “We knew we had to show our best level to win the final,” he said. “We had to find solutions to come back and win after a great start from our opponents.”
Tapia said the victory reflected their ability to adapt as the match developed. “It was a victory that we had to build as the match went on, and we really value it because of our ability to bounce back,” he said.
In the women’s competition Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero claimed the title.
For Sánchez, the victory carried added significance as she reached the 100th final of her career. She and Ustero produced another assured performance to defeat second seeds Bea González and Paula Josemaría 6 4, 6 4 in one hour and 41 minutes.
The victory completed a remarkable run for the Spanish pairing, who had already defeated world No. 1s Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea in the semi finals.
It also marked their second consecutive Premier Padel title after their triumph at Roland Garros and their fourth title together in 2026.
Sánchez and former partner Josemaría shared the top of the rankings for two seasons and won 44 titles together, but it was Sánchez and Ustero who controlled the key moments in Rotterdam.
The result also moves the pair closer to the No. 2 position in the FIP Ranking, with the battle set to continue through the European swing.
“I think we played a very complete tournament, in which we had to beat the No. 1 and No. 2 pairs,” Ustero said. “We have been working hard to win these kinds of matches and reach the level we are reaching, so I’m very happy.”
Sánchez was equally pleased with the progress of their partnership. “We’re in a very good moment and finding the consistency we had been looking for,” she said.
The Premier Padel Tour now moves to Germany for the Düsseldorf P2, which concludes on October 11. The circuit then heads to Milan for another P1 event before the season reaches its closing stages with the Kuwait and Mexico Majors, the Dubai P1 and the Tour Finals in Barcelona.
