ANC Mpumalanga Treasurer Mandla Msibi and two other members, Bhuda Mdhluli and Mandla Mhlanga have been suspended as members of the ANC in the province pending disciplinary proceedings.
Msibi and two other ANC members are accused of trying to sabotage the party’s 112th Birthday celebrations.
He reportedly tried to stop supporters from attending the annual 8 January statement as well as the party’s birthday rally celebrations.
His behaviour is said to have been in contravention with ANC’s constitution, which is a punishable offense.
The ANC’s provincial secretary Muzi Chirwa confirmed that three of their members were facing disciplinary action from the party. “In as far as we are concerned as the ANC, disciplinary action within the party is politically educative in nature as we allow due processes to take place fairly.”
“These charges would not be brought if there was no sufficient evidence,” Chirwa said.
Chirwa said there were different possibilities in punitive measures. He said it all depended on the evidence and on the conduct of the accused in the matter.
“I do not want to preempt anything it could be a fine it could be anything we just have to see how it goes,” Chirwa said.
The suspended members are expected to appear before the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) soon.
This is not the first time the organisation has suspended Msibi.
The controversial PEC member was suspended in 2022 following charges of murder against him.
Chirwa also said former president Jacob Zuma was not welcome to engage with ANC members in that province since he was the “founder” of the MK party.
