Cape Town Spurs withdrew their urgent application in the Johannesburg High Court against the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the newly promoted Durban City.
Spurs sought to set aside an arbitration ruling by Hilton Epstein, which dismissed the club’s complaint that could have seen the club retaining its National First Division status.
They were challenging the registration of City midfielder Saziso Magawana from Marumo Gallants.
Magawana featured in 28 matches for Durban City in the just-ended Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign, only missing out on two games.
The ruling paved way for Durban City to start preparing for life in the top-flight football next season.
Fullview learnt through a reliable source that Spurs decided withdraw its urgent application, and they will now begin life in the amateur ranks.

Spurs will be losing more than a R500,000 monthly grant and at least R2 million in preparation fees before the start of the season in the National First Division (NFD). They are dropping down to an ABC Motsepe League provincial league, where teams haven’t been paid their annual grant of just R30,000 for nearly three years.
