TS Galaxy and Stellenbosch FC played to a 0-0 draw in a DStv Premiership match at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday evening.
Despite the draw, the Rockets climbed up to the 10th spot on the league standings ahead of their encounter against Swallows FC on 15 January.
Stellies, meanwhile, moved up to the 13th spot on the table and they are scheduled to go head to head with Marumo Gallants on Wednesday.
The two teams battled for control of the midfield with most of the ball being played in the middle of the park in the opening exchanges.
The match began to open up towards the half-hour mark and Djakaridja Junior Traore had a chance to score in the 24th minute, but he missed the target.
At the other end, Sihle Nduli’s shot was well saved by Galaxy goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi ten minutes later and the first-half which had few chances ended goalless.
The hosts started the second-half brightly with Bernard Parker unleashing a shot which was saved by well-positioned keeper Sage Stephens in the 48th minute.
Stellies were not ready to sit back and defend as Devon Titus had an opportunity to break the deadlock in the 64th minute, but he was denied by Bafana Bafana’s Buthelezi.
Both teams pushed for a late winning goal in the closing stages, but it never came and ultimately the two sides shared the spoils as the game ended in a goalless draw.
