Helsingborgs IF have signed former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander on a deal until the end of the season.
Alexander was one of the first players to be axed by Chiefs right after the end of last season.
Alexander, who can be described as a well-travelled player, shares a close working relationship with former Chiefs mentor Stuart Baxter, who was the one who brought him to Naturena in 2021.
The player and coach bromance between Baxter and Cole began when they worked together at Indian Super League side Odisha and SuperSport United.
“It’s an incredible feeling. In South Africa, my childhood dream was to someday play in Europe and now I finally get the opportunity to do it,” he told his new club’s website.
“It feels even more special when I get the chance to see the city, get to know the club and experience the supporters live.
“Although I have played many big games in packed stands, I have never before experienced such an atmosphere as you have here. I am very happy and grateful to have been given this opportunity.
“Stuart is the best in the business and I have always loved playing under him, says the new signing.”
Helsingborgs IF play in the Swedish second tier, Superettan after being relegated in the 2022 Allsvenskan season.
