The Premier Soccer League (PSL) and Telecommunications group MTN have officially unveiled the brand new trophy for the 2023 MTN8.
The trophy was unveiled today at the official launch in Randburg on Thursday morning.
Orlando Pirates, the current holders have won it four times, while Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United won it twice.
Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City, Bidvest Wits, Ajax Cape Town, Platinum Stars, Moroka Swallows and Golden Arrows have also lifted it.
The PSL’s first knockout competition of the 2023/24 season kicks off this weekend.
The competitors are drawn from the teams that finished in the top half of the PSL table the previous season.
MTN8 quarter-finals in full:
Saturday:
- Mamelodi Sundowns vs Moroka Swallows (15h00)
- Orlando Pirates vs Sekhukhune United (18h00)

Sunday:
- Cape Town City vs Kaizer Chiefs (15h00)
- SuperSport United vs Stellenbosch (18h00)
This tournament was first staged in 1972 and has previously been known as the BP Top8, SAA Supa 8 due to the switching of title sponsors and has been referred to as the MTN8 since 2008.
