Flyhalf Tomas Albornoz returns to the Pumas squad for the final two Rugby Championship matches against South Africa after missing their last two tests in Australia, the Argentine Rugby Union said.
The 27-year-old dislocated a finger in that epic win over the All Blacks in Buenos Aires last month.
Albornoz’s return means Nicolas Roger drops out of the squad, but it remains to be seen if coach Felipe Contepomi will thrust him straight back into the starting lineup.
Santiago Carreras was exceptional in the two Tests against Australia and when he replaced Albornoz against the All Blacks in Buenos Aires.
He scored 23 points off the tee as Argentina punished Australia’s poor discipline in a well-deserved 28-26 win in Sydney.
The Rugby Championship resumes on 27 September with the All Blacks hosting the Wallabies at Eden Park, followed by the Springboks at home to Los Pumas at Kings Park. Argentina then “host” the Boks at Twickenham a week later.
