Dali Mpofu SC is cross-examination of former PP investigator Tebogo Kekana, who on Monday gave damning evidence about how suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s invalidated directive that the constitutional mandate of the Reserve Bank should be amended was given to her by State Security Agency officials.
Mpofu appears not to be disputing that SSA provided Mkhwebane with the wording of her proposed constitutional amendment of the Reserve Bank’s mandate – but is framing the one-page note provided to her as “economic input”, which he says she sought because she wanted the (totally unlawful) amendment to be articulated in a way that it wouldn’t cause “economic instability”.
He is also adamant that Mkhwebane’s insistence on the amendment was influenced by Holocaust denialist Stephen Goodson.
