Minister of Sport Nathi Mthethwa has announced that the mandate of the Cricket South Africa interim board has been extended by a month.
Mthethwa personally appointed a nine-member board in October last year, which was eventually accepted by the CSA members’ council in November.
The board was appointed on a three-month basis to restore some order and stability after a disastrous year of mismanagement at the organisation.
Their deadline has now been extended to mid-February, Mthethwa announced in a statement on Thursday morning.
“By all accounts and after some initial turbulence, the work of the interim board has gained favour among our country’s cricket lovers. Accordingly, I am confident that this extension will enable the interim board to produce a constructive and actionable report that contains the reforms required to help South African cricket realise their indubitable talent,” said Mthethwa.

The interim board is set to brief the media on related matters on Thursday.
