Kaya 959 breakfast show anchor Sizwe Dhlomo has announced that he is leaving the Gauteng commercial radio station after six years.
Dhlomo made the emotional announcement during the show, confirming that his time at the radio station is coming to an end.
“I spent the whole year planning this. This is very well thought out,” he said.
“He admitted the choice was difficult, adding, “Kaya FM has been home to me, but I believe it’s time for a new chapter in my life and career” .
While he has not yet disclosed his next move, he has hinted at a possible new direction. He has been sharing videos on social media of a studio being built at his home, sparking speculation about his future projects.
Since officially taking over the breakfast slot in 2023, Dhlomo became the driving force behind Siz The World, a show that blended current affairs, lifestyle debates, business conversations and sharp social commentary with music.
Before Kaya 959, he built a loyal audience at YFM, where he co-hosted alongside Scoop Makhathini, before moving to 947 and later 702.
He first rose to fame after winning MTV Base’s first-ever VJ Search in 2005, becoming one of the channel’s earliest African stars and later transitioning into television presenting and talk radio.
The station is yet to name a replacement for Dhlomo nor it is yet to issue a formal statement on his departure. Fullview attempted to get a comment from the station and it will be added once received.
