Chiefs edging closer to Thapelo Maseko & Langelihle Phili transfer.

With the 2026/27 season looming large, Kaizer Chiefs are closer in securing the services of left-wingers Thapelo Maseko, Langelihle Phili and midfielder Ayabulela Maxwele to further strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

At 22, Maseko could be one of the players that the team could be built around for many years to come.

Maseko played for AEL Limassol in Cyprus for about seven months last season, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Fullview learnt Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has hinted that Maseko is not in his plans as he did not include him in his squad for the pre-season tour to Austria.

Our source told us that Chiefs are impressed with Maseko.

The youngster is the one who scored the winner against South Korea during the World Cup, a goal that took Bafana Bafana to the round of 32 for the first time in history.

Meanwhile it is understood Chiefs has offered two of their players, Given Msimango and Ashley du Preez, as part of a deal to sign Stellies winger Langelihle Phili.

Du Preez is already en route to Cape Town with two-year plus one option agreed for return to the Winelands.

The Cape Town-born attacker managed only eight Betway Premiership appearances last season, registering one assist and failing to find the back of the net in an injury-hit campaign.

Fullview also understands Chiefs and Golden Arrows have officially started negotiations, over a possible transfer of Maxwele.

Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz last week told reporters that the club is targeting four key signings to strengthen the squad.

“There are four positions offensively: a striker, new wingers and an attacking midfielder, “Da Cruz said, putting pressure on the club’s management to deliver those players.

“We have good profiles, but we asked management to get different profiles so that we can play different football and be less predictable.”

Chiefs are set to travel to Mbombela for their opening Betway Premiership fixture of the season, where they will go toe-to-toe against Kruger United on Saturday, 1 August.
