Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and chose to bat first in their final World Cup group match against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.
South Africa have included allrounder Andile Phehlukwayo in the starting XI for his first game of the tournament in which everyone in the 15-man squad has played at least one match.
South Africa have already qualified for the semifinals where they will meet Australia at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.

Meanwhile Allan Donald will leave his post as Bangladesh’s fast-bowling coach following the World Cup, officials and media said on Friday, days after his public criticism in the wake of the “timed-out” row.
Bangladesh will wrap up a disappointing Cricket World Cup campaign in India against Australia in Pune on Saturday.
