Egyptian giants Al Ahly have sacked head coach Jose Riveiro just four games into the new Egyptian Premier League campaign.
The decision came just hours after the Cairo giants suffered a 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC in the league’s fifth round.
In an official statement, Al Ahly confirmed that Riveiro and his backroom staff had been relieved of their duties, with the club thanking them for their efforts but citing the team’s recent decline in form as the reason behind the move.
The spaniard had signed with Al Ahly three months ago following his decision to leave Orlando Pirates and headed over to Cairo.
Al Ahly currently occupy a low 12th position in the league standings after five matches with just one point.
