AmaZulu Football Club on Sunday confirmed the sad passing of 32-year-old striker Bonginkosi Ntuli, after he became ill and had to be hospitalised a few weeks ago.
According to the club’s statement, Ntuli battled with “an aggressive form of cancer, which led to his death.”
He passed away on Sunday afternoon at the Midlands Medical Centre Private Hospital in Pietermaritzburg.
“It is with heavy heart that we inform you of the untimely passing of our beloved centre-forward and loyal servant, Bonginkosi Ntuli,” a statement from the club read.
“Ntuli was [very recently] diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, which metastasized and untimely led to his death at the Midlands Medical Centre Private Hospital, Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.
“May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. The club requests privacy and patience be granted his family and friends at this difficult time.
“Further announcements will be made in due course.”
Born in Pietermaritzburg, Ntuli started his professional career with Golden Arrows back in 2012 and while he was on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns between 2014 and 2019.
