Bafana Bafana team conducted the second Covid-19 tests on Tuesday for the entire team ahead of the match against Uganda.
Unfortunately, Assistant coach Janevski Cedomir tested positive while the rest of the team is negative.
As is the norm, all team members – players and support staff – are tested ahead of entering into camp and all results were negative. However, during the second round of tests conducted on Tuesday, 8 June 2021, Assistant coach Cedomir tested positive.
“We continue to check for clinical symptoms and encourage the staff to wear masks without failure, practice social distance and everyone is accommodated separately,” said team doctor, Dr Tshepo Molobi.
Bafana Bafana take on the Ugandan Cranes on Thursday, 10 June 2021 at Orlando Stadium. The match kicks off at 18h00.
Meanwhile assistant coach Helman Mkhalele has challenged the new Senior Men’s National team players to write their own history, starting with the friendly international match against the Ugandan Cranes at Orlando Stadium on Thursday (10 June 2021).
Addressing the players on Tuesday after the afternoon training session, the former Bafana Bafana winger said the new players called up for national duty must have first and foremost a positive attitude.
“The first victory is in the mind. With a positive attitude, normally the rest will fall into place. Have a right mental attitude, communicate with your teammates more often and above all, believe,” he said.
Mkhalele asked the newly assembled team to wear the Bafana Bafana jersey with pride, as they will be representing the 60 million plus South Africans.
“Not everyone has an opportunity to represent one’s country and when the opportunity avails itself, grab it with both hands and make yourself, your family and the country proud,” added Mkhalele.
The technical staff of Bafana Bafana regard the Uganda friendly match as the beginning of the rebuilding phase.
