South Africa and Niger played to a 0-0 draw to close out Friday’s action from the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kampala.
It was a missed opportunity for South Africa to move top of Group C and assert themselves for a place in the quarterfinals.
Bafana Bafana controlled the first half and Niger escaped a penalty kick opportunity against them when referee Bouchra Karboubi rightly overturned her initial call.
Niger nearly had the lead towards the final ten minutes when a header by Mohamed Abdouramane hit the upright with Samukelo Xulu in no man’s land.
In the end, both sides settled for a share of the spoils.
Meanwhile Algeria struck late through Soufiane Bayazid to earn a 1-1 draw with Guinea in a tense CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group C clash at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Friday.
