Baroka Football Club has demoted coach Kgoloko Thobejane to the DStv Diski Challenge side.

Club chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has confirmed that Thobejane has been demoted to the DDC side after their 3-2 defeat to Swallows FC over the weekend.

Vincent Kobola, who worked as Thobejane’s assistant coach and current DDC coach Stanley Nkoana will be in charge of the first team until the end of the season.

It is the second time this season for Bakgaga ba Mphahlele to make changes to their technical team.

Thoka Matsimela started with the team this term before being demoted to the reserve team when Thobejane returned to be the head coach for a second stint.

But Thobejane lasted five months into his job before the latest changes.

He also becomes the ninth PSL coach to lose his job after Owen da Gama could not finish the season with TS Galaxy, Benni McCarthy was sacked by AmaZulu, Kaitano Tembo lost his SuperSport job.

Baroka have struggled to find form this season; so far having only managed to win four, draw six and lose 16 and have conceded the most goals, with a minus 20 goal difference.

The club was established in 2007 and these are the club achievements thus far:

• 2018 Telkom Knockout Champions
• 2015–16 National First Division champions
• Vodacom League 2010–11 Limpopo champions.

Baroka are six points behind 15th-placed TS Galaxy and 14th-placed Swallows, meaning they are under immense pressure to win their remaining matches.
