FC Bayern München produced a comeback for the ages last weekend as the champions hit back from 3-0 down at FSV Mainz 05 to prevail 4-3 and remain on track to equal the Bundesliga record for most points and win in a season with three games to go.
With no Friday fixtures in Germany on Matchday 32 due to a public holiday, all the action kicks off on Saturday afternoon. Among those games is the visit of 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 to the Allianz Arena. Frank Schmidt’s men staved off relegation last weekend by beating FC St. Pauli. Victory for the division’s bottom side at the league leaders will again ensure they live to fight another week.
Borussia Dortmund secured UEFA Champions League football for 2026-27 as they brushed aside SC Freiburg 4-0 in their 1,000th home Bundesliga match. Their objective now is to sew up second place as they visit Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday.
RB Leipzig’s 3-1 triumph over 1. FC Union Berlin was their fifth straight win and now puts Ole Werner’s side one more victory away from guaranteeing a Champions League return as they visit Bayer 04 Leverkusen in Saturday’s Topspiel.
The Werkself start the weekend in sixth, only two points below VfB Stuttgart and TSG Hoffenheim in fourth and fifth respectively. Kasper Hjulmand’s men know they need a victory of their own, given Hoffenheim host Stuttgart earlier in the day and therefore one – if not both – will drop points.
Eintracht Frankfurt welcome Hamburger SV and Freiburg entertain VfL Wolfsburg with the two hosts locked on 43 points as they chase the seventh and final guaranteed European spot. The two away teams are still battling for top-flight survival, with the Wolves in the automatic drop zone and six points shy of HSV in the final safe spot.
All teams ninth and higher have secured their Bundesliga status. Marie-Louise Eta’s Union Berlin (32 points) host 1. FC Köln (31) at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei, knowing her first win as head coach could well guarantee safety.
That will depend on St. Pauli’s result at home to Mainz on Sunday. The Kiezkicker occupy the relegation play-off spot only a point above Wolfsburg but five away from outright safety. Anything other than victory risks the Hamburg club being cut adrift going into the final two matchdays.
While no team is down yet, Matchday 32 could also bring the first confirmed promotion of the season. Having come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away at second placed SC Paderborn 07, FC Schalke 04 now host Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday night knowing three points will end their three-year top-flight absence.
