Cape Town City have completed the signing of Florida-born winger Jordan Bender, who has played junior international football for the United States.
The 21-year-old, who has South African roots, will add to the wide options for City coach Eric Tinkler as they contemplate not just a tile at the DStv Premiership title, but also a first ever campaign in the CAF Champions League.
Bender was developed through Major League Soccer side Orlando City and made a handful of appearances for them, before a loan spell at third-tier Charlotte Independence in 2021.
He was recalled from that in September, but then did not have his contract renewed in Orlando, so moves to Cape Town as a free agent. He has played for the United States at Under-16 and Under-20 level.
He could make his debut when City host Mamelodi Sundowns in the opening game of the new DStv Premiership campaign on August 5.
