The defending champions Liverpool have been drawn against Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup while Arsenal will face Newcastle United.
After outlasting Manchester United in a seven-goal thriller in the last eight on Thursday night, Spurs will now be at home for the first game in a two-legged tie against the current Premier League leaders in the second week of January, then travelling to Anfield for the return fixture in early February.
Arsenal will play Newcastle at Emirates Stadium in the first leg of their tie before the second leg at St James’ Park.
The gunners came from behind to see off Crystal Palace at the Emirates, owing to a Gabriel Jesus hat-trick.Newcastle also secured safe passage to the semi-finals with a relatively routine win over Brentford that saw Sandro Tonali grab two of their three goals at St James’ Park.
The draw also sets up the tantalising possibility of a north London derby in the final of the competition.
Spurs and Arsenal have never met in a major domestic final but have faced each other four times previously in the League Cup semi-finals, in 1968, 1987, 2007 and 2008.
The semi-final first legs will be played in the week commencing 6 January 2025, and the second legs in the week beginning 3 February.
Wembley Stadium will host the final on 16 March.
