Cassper Nyovest says he is ready for a boxing rematch against NaakMusiq, after losing to the actor in the ring.
On Saturday night, the South African artists went head-to-head in a celebrity boxing match in Sun City.
While actor and musician NaakMusiQ, real name Anga Makubalo, won the big fight, both him and Cassper Nyovest (Refiloe Refilwe Phoolo) held it down at the ring in Sun City.
Celebrities and fans congratulated both entertainers for bringing a much-needed spark back into South African boxing.
Fans had mixed feelings about the idea of a rematch, with some feeling as though different opponents were needed, while others said Cassper could not take a loss.
Cassper explained during the boxing press conference on 30 March that him losing would be tough, as social media tends to be harsher on him.
He has been vocal with on which other opponents he would like to have in the ring, He wants to fight Prince Kaybee and AKA ( Kiernan Forbes) accusing them of being all tweets but no action.
Cassper and AKA had a boxing match in talks, but it never fell through, they both blamed each other in one of their back and forth social media exchanges.
This is a match fans would like to happen as the both artists have a long beef which does not seem like will be squashed anytime sooner.
TLB Boxing Promotions boss Joyce Kungwane is smiling from ear to ear following a hugely successful tournament at the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg on Saturday evening.
“Of course, we are happy. It was a big success. We were working on the venue capacity, Kungwane said.
Soon after the verdict of his fight against NaakMusiq was announced, Cassper Nyovest asked for a rematch with the Gqeberha-born actor and musician.
“We will do it again. Remember, Cassper Nyovest announced that he would like to have a rematch. We are going to be involved again, “Kungwane remarked.
There were five other bouts before the Cassper Nyovest-NaakMusiq fight where Lwandile Ngxeke stopped favourite Athenkosi Dumezweni to win the vacant South African junior-bantamweight title.
Ngxeke from Sada in the Eastern Cape went to the fight as an underdog. He, however, proved to be a worthy contender as he matched Dumezweni to such an extent that he decked the Mthatha-born boxer twice during the slugfest.
Effectively using his big right hand, Ngxeke gave Dumezweni all sorts of problems. It was then no wonder that he sent him to the canvas in the second and 10th rounds. Referee Simon Mokadi waved the fight off after Ngxeke had decked Dumezweni in the 10th round.
On the other hand, former World Boxing Federation (WBF) and SA female bantamweight champion Bukiwe Anaconda Nonina had a breeze as she won the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) female junior-lightweight title with a unanimous decision win over Tanzanian Feriche Mashauri.
Nonina put up a dominant performance and controlled the fight from the first gong until the last second with Mashauri having no answer to every blow the Dutywa boxer threw.
Simphiwe Konkco, an erstwhile International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and SA titlist, showed that ring rust is just a myth as he defeated Filipino boxer Ariston Aton one all score cards. This was Konkco’s first fight since losing to Thai boxer Chayaphon Moonsri in a World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight title contest in October 2019.
In other bouts, Lucky Monyebane outpointed Malawian Romeo Makwakwa while Sikho Nqothole defeated Ricardo Malajika on points.
