Kaizer Chiefs will go head to head with Simba SC in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal first-leg match at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 6pm CAT.
Chiefs are hoping to bounce back to winning ways after they extended their winless run to four matches when they drew 1-1 with Swallows FC in the DStv Premiership game on Wednesday.
Chiefs booked their place in the Champions League knockout stage for the first time in the club’s history after finishing second in Group C and they are now hoping to create more history by reaching the semifinals.
Reeve Frosler, the Chiefs full-back, says they have accepted the underdog tag against Simba, but he is optimistic that they can secure a win at home.
“I think we have a good chance [to beat Simba]. Nobody knew much about us in terms of Caf experience so we are regarded as underdogs,” Frosler told Chiefs’ media press conference.
“Yes, we will stay an underdog and we will just keep on doing our best. You never know as you have seen these Caf games are unpredictable. Anybody can win on any day. So we never know what could happen.”
Meanwhile, Simba are coming into this game in great form having extended their winning streak to five matches when they thrashed Dodoma Jiji 3-1 in the Tanzanian Premier League game on April 27.
The Reds of Msimbazi impressively qualified for the Champions League knockout phase as Group A winners and they are now determined to go all the way and win the competition for the first time.
Elsewhere Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to limit the damage in Cairo and bring Ahly back to South Africa chasing a win. The Egyptian side will still be scarred by a 5-0 loss to Sundowns in Tshwane in April 2019, when Mosimane brilliantly plotted their downfall.
