Kaizer Chiefs announced signing of Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Tanzanian giants, Azam FC for an undisclosed fee, following successful negotiations between the two clubs.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who was captain at Azam, becomes the first player from Tanzania to join Chiefs.
The midfielder spent notable spells in Iceland with KR Reykjavík, Keflavík, and Völsungur ÍF before returning home to join Azam FC in early 2024, where he quickly rose to captain the Tanzanian outfit.
On the international stage, Mtasingwa has earned approximately five caps for the Tanzanian national team, Taifa Stars.
His arrival adds to the impressive list of players from over 20 different African countries who have worn the famous Gold & Black jersey.
In a statement on Tuesday, Chiefs said: “Kaizer Chiefs have secured the services of Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Tanzanian giants, Azam FC for an undisclosed fee, following successful negotiations between the two Clubs.”

“Mtasingwa brings valuable experience, having spent six seasons in Scandinavia, playing in the Icelandic, Norwegian and Finnish leagues. He returned home in 2024 to help Azam FC finish third in the Tanzanian league last season.”

Bitegeko becomes the third player to join Chiefs this transfer window after Thabo Moloisane and goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner.
Meanwhile Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans SC have officially unveiled the new backroom team to assist newly appointed head coach Manqoba Mngqithi ahead of the upcoming campaign.
On Tuesday, 21 July, Yanga confirmed the arrival of experienced South African coach Simo Dladla, who steps in as Mngqithi’s assistant coach. “Welcome, assistant coach Simo Dladla,” reads the short statement from the club.
Dladla arrives in Dar es Salaam after officially parting ways with Betway Premiership side AmaZulu FC following the expiration of his contract.
