Kaizer Chiefs extended their winning streak to four with a convincing 2-0 win over TS Galaxy in their Betway premiership encounter at FNB stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Flavio da Silva scored a first half goal while Glody Lilepo netted late in the second half to give Chiefs their 12th win of the season.
Chiefs dominated the first half and showed more aggression than the visitors, creating early chances.
Bradley Cross and co kept it solid at the back to shield Brandon Petersen before Da Silva finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute, powering home a header from Mduduzi Shabalala’s assist to send the Soweto giants into the break 1-0 up.
The second half sparked into life despite a brief disruption from a floodlight power glitch and tricky weather conditions at the Calabash in the 65th minute.
The restart came with renewed vigour from the under-fire Chiefs attackers, as Lilepo got on the end of a shot from the far post to stretch their lead.
Chiefs go into their midweek fixture away to Magesi FC on Wednesday evening, 15 April, brimming with confidence looking for a fifth win in a row.
Chiefs are third with 42 points, 13 behind rivals Orlando Pirates in second place but Amakhosi have two games in hand – a significant advantage in the race for continental qualification.
