SuperSport United will go head to head with Kaizer Chiefs in an epic DStv Premiership match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
Kick-off is at 5:30 pm.
United remain among the three teams which are still undefeated in the league this season having claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over Baroka FC at home last weekend.
The Tshwane giants are placed second in the league standings – four points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, who will honouring their CAF Champions League commitment this weekend.
Kaitano Tembo, the SuperSport head coach, is looking forward to facing Stuart Baxter’s Chiefs side having worked with British tactician at Matsatsantsa.
“I think it’s just a matter of time before Chiefs can start playing the way he wants them to play. So that’s why I’m very aware that this is not going to be an easy game,” Tembo said.
“It’s going be a very tough game against a team that you can see that they’re starting to play the way he wants them to play, with a lot of enjoyment, a lot of freedom, and he is also very tactically disciplined.
“So looking at the games that he has played, there’s a few changes as well, in terms of how he’s approaching the games now. And I know it’s going to be a tough game and we have to be ready, we have to prepare well for this game.”
Meanwhile, Chiefs are coming into this encounter undefeated in their last three matches in the league having secured an emphatic 4-0 victory over Chippa United at home last weekend.
Chiefs are placed ninth on the DStv Premiership standings – two points behind fifth-placed Sekhukhune United and they will be determined to move into the top eight with a win over SuperSport.
Austin Dube, the Chiefs centre back, made it known that they are going for a victory against SuperSport having failed to defeat the Tshwane giants in their last five league meetings.
“I think for the upcoming game against SuperSport, we must stick to our game plan and to our tactics. We just have to go out there, be ourselves and play our normal football,” Dube said.
“I have watched almost all their matches this season and they have been doing well, which is proved by the fact that they are sitting second from the top on the log.
“Taking [positives] from the previous game against Chippa, we did very well. But I think we can still improve and do much better as a team. So, going to the weekend’s game, we are going for a win and a better performance.”
Sunday’s match will be the Baxter’s 98th game in charge of Chiefs across two stints.
He will level with Ernst Middendorp to be joint second behind Mushin Ertugral who have coached the most number of games for Chiefs.
