Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs played to a 0-0 draw in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership clash at Danie Craven Stadium.
Both teams had multiple chances to win the match, but neither could break the deadlock.
The result leaves the two clubs in ninth and seventh place on the league standings respectively, with Chiefs having extended their unbeaten run to four matches.
Stellies’ first real chance came in the 51st minute following a dreadful error from Lebogang Manyama in a dangerous area, but Erick Mathoho spared his teammate’s blushes with a timely block to deny Leletu Skelem.
Chiefs had the better chances in the final few minutes of the match. Samir Nurkovic rose above his marker to meet a pinpoint cross in the 82nd minute, but the towering Serbian could only succeed in planting his header wide of goal.
Langeveldt then pulled off a terrific save two minutes later to deny Siyabonga Ngezana from point-blank range as Stellies held on for a share of the spoils.
Meanwhile Orlando Pirates claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership match at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
The win took the Buccaneers to the fourth spot on the league standings – three points behind third-placed SuperSport United, while the Team of Choice remained 14th on the log.
The visitors deservedly broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Bongani Sam delivered a quality cross into the opposition’s box and Deon Hotto turned the ball home to make it 1-0 to Pirates.
Elsewhere AmaZulu FC secured 2-0 victory over Baroka FC in a DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and Chippa United beat 10-man Black Leopards 3-0 in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership clash at Thohoyandou Stadium.
