Premier Soccer League side Chippa United have confirmed Sinethemba Badela as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
Badela joins the Chilli Boys after serving as Rulani Mokwena’s assistant coach at Wydad Athletic Club.
The club made no mention of the fate of former head coaches Thabo September and Mabhuti Khenyeza, except to say that the full technical team would be announced in due course.
“This marks his first appointment as a head coach in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) – a moment of pride not just for him, but for us as a club, “Chippa said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We have built a reputation for giving young and emerging coaches the opportunity to lead, choosing innovation over recycling, and purpose over familiarity. Football is evolving, and so are we.”
“Coach Badela brings with him international experience, having served as assistant coach at Wydad AC in Morocco, one of the most decorated clubs in African football. He now steps into this leadership role with the backing of our club, our supporters, and the province we call home.”
Badela was raised in Sterkspruit in the Joe Gqabi District Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Chippa finished 11th in the recently completed Betway Premiership season following a dip in form towards the end of the campaign that saw them winless in their last seven games (D3 L4).
