The Pretoria high court has ordered that investigations into the kidnapping and murder of Hillary Gardee to be prioritised.
This decision comes after the Gardee family filed an urgent application with the High Court on Wednesday.
Gardee is the daughter of EFF secretary-general and attorney Godrich Gardee.
She went missing in April and her body was discovered near Sabie in Mpumalanga.
An autopsy revealed Gardee was shot in the back of the head and stabbed multiple times.
The court ordered a multidisciplinary team comprising Crime Intelligence and the Hawks should be set up to conduct a proper investigation into the murder.
The team was also ordered to report back to the family every two weeks on developments in the case.
Family spokesperson Sinawo Tambo said the ongoing delays, long-ending postponement, and lack of progress from the side of the police had left the family traumatised.
He added, the family feels there is a lack of ‘appetite’ from the police to peruse the case as it is no longer getting attention from the media.
Three men have since been arrested. Albert Mduduzi Gama, Philemon Lukhele and Sipho Mkhatshwa are due back in court next month.
