The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says the autopsy conducted on Hillary Gardee indicate the slain 28-year-old woman was shot in the head.
Gardee was the daughter of former EFF secretary general Godrich Gardee.
Her body was found dumped in bushes outside Mbombela on Tuesday after she was first reported missing on Friday.
Speaking outside the Gardee family home on Wednesday, EFF spokesperson Sinawo Tambo said the party has little faith in the police’s ability to catch the killers.
“We have received information that a bullet wound was located in the back of her head, which means she was shot almost execution-style and the police on the scene did not pick up that Hillary was shot. This is gross incompetence. This means the police did not conduct thorough investigation of the crime scene, and now it is too late. The crime scene has been contaminated.
“The motive behind the her kidnapping and murder may be more deeper.”
Tambo also confirmed that money was withdrawn from Hillary’s bank account.
“There were transactions from the point where she was abducted, about three to four hours of cash send or e-wallet sent to herself. One cannot shoot someone for a transaction of R1 300, the risk is too high. We don’t believe this is a common criminal act to just steal petty cash.”
Earlier EFF leader Julius Malema has dismissed conspiracy theorists’ attempts to link the death of Gardee.
“Brainless people will always try to find a reason, even where it doesn’t exist.
“Women were killed in this country before the EFF was formed and therefore, to attribute a killing of a woman to the policy of the EFF of open borders, is to expose the size of your brain. That it is the same level and size of a peanut,” Malema told the media outside the Gardee residence in Mpumalanga on Wednesday.
“They have always been hated for being women, for being black, for being working class, and therefore the small brain cannot comprehend that.
“It will look, for some non-existent reason, to justify the hatred of the EFF,” he added.
Malema also said people could not expect love from those who don’t love themselves.
“Therefore, you expect too much. The people who matter have sent their condolences and that is enough,” he added.
