The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the party will be unforgiving to those who do not have a political or ideological appreciation of the instruction they give to them.
Malema said, “the instruction to organize buses during the party’s 10th anniversary was not a financial exercise, it was a political and ideological test to all EFF Public Representatives.”
“A revolutionary and true representative of the people, is able to organize an operations center within their community, and does not expect the organization to pay for the sustainability of that operations center.
“There is no election we are going to win, if we do not have the ability to mobilize resources to strengthen our internal capacity as individual leaders of the EFF, Malema continued.
Malema addressed delegates at the EFF’s elections workshop in Ekurhuleni on Thursday.
He also accused the ANC of using illegal immigration as a scapegoat for the party’s failure to deliver services.
His remarks come amid the resurfacing of the debate on illegal immigration following the deadly fire at a building in the Johannesburg CBD and the issues around illegal mining in Gauteng.
In 2022, then Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, claimed that illegal foreigners are a contributing factor to the high unemployment rate in the country, while Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba launched a diatribe against a Zimbabwean patient in a Bela Bela hospital.
“The same ruling party that has African in its name has adopted an election strategy that it will attribute its failures to African people. It does so to take advantage of our people and distract them from the fact that it has failed,” said Malema.
Malema reiterated his claim that various institutions have been destroyed in defence of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“The Office of Public Protector has been destroyed in defence of a money launder. The office of the Reserve Bank is being destroyed in defence of a woman abuser called Cyril Ramaphosa. The office of the Revenue Service has been destroyed in defence of Cyril Ramaphosa,” he said.
At the same time, Malema also said he fears the ANC will do the same to the Independent Electoral Commission.
“I can tell you this without any hesitation, they are now attempting to destroy the IEC, so that the IEC can defend Ramaphosa’s defeat in the polls in 2024. They must find us ready for them. We must never allow anyone who is a member of Sadtu or any member of the union that is aligned with Cosatu to be part of the IEC. Cosatu has declared on a daily basis that it will support the ANC.”
Meanwhile National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) has laid a criminal charge against Malema over his slaughter of a cow as part of the party’s 10th anniversary in July.
In the video, Malema was seen using two small knives to slaughter the cow. He stabbed it more than 11 times.
The organisation claimed “Malema repeatedly inflicted pain and caused unnecessary suffering to the animal” and it was clear “the animal endured significant distress”.
The Animals Protection Act is a crucial piece of legislation that aims to protect all animals from unnecessary pain, suffering, and cruelty. It is essential all individuals, including public figures and leaders, who are expected to set an example, uphold and respect these laws.”
The NSPCA said it would work closely with law enforcement and the national prosecuting authority in the matter.
“The NSPCA has consistently demonstrated its dedication to protecting and advocating for the welfare of animals across our nation. It is crucial that those who inflict harm upon animals are held accountable for their actions, as this sends a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society”.
