The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party will continue to push for the removal of President Cyril Ramaphosa and Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana from office.
Ramaphosa is being investigated by the law enforcement agencies over claims that he was involved in an elaborate cover-up of the theft of foreign currency from his Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo.
Godongwana, on the other hand, is facing a sex scandal after a Kruger National Park masseuse laid a criminal complaint against him.
Ramaphosa and Godongwana have denied the allegations against them and vowed to cooperate with investigations by law enforcement agencies.
He accused the country’s law enforcement agencies and financial institutions of protecting the president.
“We condemn the attempts by the South African Reserve Bank, the South African Revenue Service, the Financial Intelligence Centre, and sections of the SA Police Service who are currently involved in an illegal and unlawful cover-up of the crimes committed in Phala Phala.
He said the EFF would do everything in their power to ensure that Ramaphosa does not finish his term in office, before the 2024 general elections.
Malema made the remarks during a media briefing in Johannesburg on the outcomes of the party’s 16th central command team (CCT) meeting at the weekend.
He has congratulated AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini for a successful “ukungena esibayeni” ceremony over the past weekend.
Thousands of people gathered at the Kwakhangela’Mankengana great place in KwaNongoma, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, to witness the historic event.
Malema says it is now up to King Misuzulu to unite the Zulu nation. He says of most importance is for the royal family to unite behind the King.
He said the presence of leadership from different formations “gave every Doubting Thomas” a clear message that there was no doubt who is the King of the Zulus.
Those who are calling press conferences in Fourways must know that there is no king in Fourways… they will be kings (only) in Fourways. They, too, know that there is one king and there is one certificate, he said.
Malema was referring to Prince Mbonisi who called a press briefing in Fourways, Johannesburg, and named Prince Buzabazi as a successor to the throne.
He has also extended its appreciation to all structures and members of the organisation, for waging a massive campaign to ensure that the organisation achieves the target of 1 Million Members by the end of 2022.
