Rain eventually forced the abandonment of the third and final one-day international between South Africa and England at Headingly in Leeds on Sunday.
South Africa were well placed on 159-2 after 27.4 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first with Quinton de Kock left stranded just eight runs short of a century, his brilliant 92 not out from just 76 balls containing 13 boundaries.
Janneman Malan (11) sliced a drive against left arm seamer David Willey to Jason Roy at backward point and Rassie van der Dussen (26 from 38 balls) swept legspinner Adil Rashid to Jonny Bairstow at deep backward square leg. Before the first of two rain breaks which initially reduced the match to 45 overs per side.
South Africa posted their highest ODI score (333-5) in England to win the first game at the Riverside Stadium in Durham by 62-runs before being bowled out for their lowest (83) to lose the second game at Old Trafford in Manchester by 118 runs. The series was thus shared.
The three-match T20 International series between the teams gets underway in Bristol on Wednesday with the second match in Cardiff a day later. The third match is in Southampton on Sunday.
