England’s victory over Canada in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup final, was more than just a trophy lift. It was vindication, a demonstration of resilience, tactical clarity, and a squad that has matured into champions.
Coming into the final, doubts lingered. This was the same team that had dominated for years, only to falter when it mattered most in 2017 and 2022.
Canada, physical and fearless, were billed as their toughest challengers. Yet, from the moment Ellie Kildunne stepped through the defence for a solo try, the tone was set.

The wider significance cannot be ignored. With a world-record crowd inside Twickenham and England now on a 33-match unbeaten streak, this was more than sport. It was a cultural moment.
Mitchell described it as three years in the making. In truth, it was longer — eight years since England last ruled the world, with two gut-wrenching defeats in between.
